In this world, demons are real...in a sense. It is unknown who or what sparked this secondary burst of life, though clearly it was an ancient magic, but if one saw it one would know this life was but a parody. From their birthplace the Vaulted Mountains (a mountain range within a cavern), demons are but the weeds of lifeforce, a tumorous overabundance of it. All demons are not born, but made from the dead matter of those already passed away in the Vaulted Mountains. Demons are but creatures that can only destroy and recycled, never born or aged. With a natural affinity for magic, they can only be unnatural, opposed by the living which they imitate.

One such demon was one with fantastic fire magic and the ability to turn into a giant snake, he came upon humanity as a hedonistic spirit. A being thirsty for some good old carnage, he happened upon a village during the medieval era. Assuming the identity of a deity, Lindallobamesh terrorized the village into serving him for a bloody fun few decades. As his luck turned out, this deity turned out very real. To punish the demon, Lindallobamesh ended trapped in an abyss for 1,000 years, a blackness of pure unimaginable darkness.

It might have gone on forever had a being named Xipe released them into a modern world. Xipe was a fan of Lindallobamesh's exploits, but when released Lindallobamesh had a change of heart. Demoralized, Lind wanted to change his violent ways. While still a hedonist, he now wants nothing to do with the politics of the demons or humans. In a modern world, he knows you have to deal with humans. So as a bouncer, he just wants to do his job and be done with it. But that might not be so easy with the complexity of human lives or the obsession Xipe.
